Zakir, the best in the country by jumping rope, dreams of writing his name on the Guinness Book of World Records

Zakir wants to bring fame to the country by participating in international level like Olympics. Dreaming of being named in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Zakir lives in Hajipara village of Syedpur upazila. Baba Jahangir Alam is a vegetable seller by profession. Zakir is the eldest of three brothers. Maj brother Zahid is also an expert in jumping rope.

Zakir, a 10th class student of Botlagari High School, is an SSC candidate this time. Poverty could not suppress Zakir’s talent. He never finished second in the rope jump event of the national sports competition. At the upazila level, he won first place in all the games organized at Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium in Syedpur on March 3, at Nilphamari big field on March 11 at district level, at Rangpur district school ground on March 12 at divisional level and most recently at national level on March 15 at Dinajpur district stadium. So far, Zakir has won several certificates and medals in rope jumping. Now Zakir’s focus is on revealing his talent at the international level.

Botlagari High School headmaster Golam Rabbani said, ‘Zakir is a meritorious student in the science department of our institution. Zakir wants to set a world record by jumping rope. Whenever he has time, he always practices rope jumping. ‘

Zakir’s father Jahangir Alam told Prothom Alo, ‘My son has been jumping with a rope since childhood. I used to say to him, “What will happen if you do all this, father?” He used to say, “Father, one day I will brighten your face with this game.”

Talking to Zakir, who is the best in the country by jumping rope. He says in the first light, ‘My childhood dream is to jump rope. My brother and I used to watch rope jumping videos on the internet. I always practice with a strong desire to take part in this game at home and abroad. In addition to studying, I used to practice wherever I could. Being the first at all stages has further increased my interest. Now I want to play in the Olympics at the international level for the country. I want to break the Guinness Book of World Records and take the name of the country higher. ‘

The biggest festival for students from grassroots to secondary level is the National Sports Competition. This is a big area for the development of sports talent in secondary level students. The competition was organized by the Bangladesh National School, Madrasa and Technical Education Association of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education to develop the talents of the students.
