Similar protests have been reported in Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands. Austria and Belgium have banned such vehicles from entering the capital. And this time the protest has started in France.

Earlier, French authorities banned the Freedom Convoy protest. However, the protesters tried to enter Paris with a convoy yesterday, ignoring the ban. Police fired tear gas at them. Home Secretary G. Ralph Dermanin said more than 300 protesters had been fined and 54 arrested.

Authorities opposed the protest with all available police forces, special services and the army. ”

Despite all the obstacles, some vehicles were able to reach the town of Arc de Triomphe yesterday. Tear gas was fired at protesters in the surrounding Champs Elysees area.

Paris police say they stopped hundreds of city-bound vehicles yesterday. Two of the vehicles had knives, hammers, petrol containers and five had slingshots.

Demonstrations are taking place in France against the Covid Pass. The country has an obligation to show proof of corona vaccination to enter public places and events. It is expected that there will be protests on Sunday against the Corona rules.
