Ukraine: ‘Russian soldiers raped me and killed my husband’

Anna said she and her husband were at home on March 8. Suddenly a foreign army forced its way into the house.

“He took me to a nearby house with a weapon and threatened me. There he instructed me: “Take off your clothes, or I will shoot you.” He kept threatening me that he would kill me if I did not do what he said. Then he raped me, “said Anna.

According to Anna, the assailant was a young, slender Chechen fighter who was assisting Russian forces.

He added: “While the army was raping me, four more soldiers entered. I thought maybe this was my last moment. But they removed the army. I never saw him again. ”
The idea is that he survived because of another unit of the Russian army. But when Anna returns home, she finds that her husband has been shot in the stomach.
“He ran after me to save me, but a bullet hit him,” Anna said.

Anna and her injured husband took refuge in a neighbour’s house. But as the fight continued, it was not possible to bring Anna’s husband to the hospital. He died two days later.

Anna could not stop crying once while describing this incident. She showed the BBC a tomb in the backyard of their home where her husband was buried.

Anna said that after contacting the local hospital, they are now giving her psychological support.

The soldiers who survived due to the presence of the soldiers stayed at Anna’s house for a few days. Anna said the soldiers instructed her to hand over her husband’s belongings to them.
The BBC gets the news of another thrilling incident some distance from Anna’s house.
Another woman was killed after being raped there. According to neighbors, Anna was raped by the same army that carried out the incident. He went to Anna’s house after raping and killing the woman.

Neighbors told the BBC the dead woman was in her 40s. He was taken out of his house and taken to a bedroom next door. The occupants of the house fled the area shortly after the start of the fighting.

According to a BBC eyewitness, the well-appointed bedroom is now a heinous crime scene. Dry blood stains on mattresses and blankets.

In a corner of the room, a message was written on a mirror with lipstick – “Strangers raped, Russian soldiers buried.”

Oksana, a neighbor, told the BBC that Russian troops had recovered the woman’s body and buried her.

“They (Russian soldiers) told me that the woman had been raped and had her throat slit or cut. He died of bleeding. They added that there was a lot of blood. ”

The woman was buried in the garden of that house.

The woman’s body was exhumed the day after the BBC visited the scene. It can be seen that the throat of the deceased has been cut in a deep and long way.

Ukrainian human rights observer Ludmila Denisova said they were gathering evidence of several such incidents.

He said, “During the occupation of Bucha, about 25 teenagers and young women between the ages of 14 and 24 were systematically raped in the basement of a house. Nine of them are now pregnant. The Russian military has told them they will be raped and taken to a level where they no longer want to have sex with men. ”

Denisova said they are receiving information and news of such incidents from various sources, including phone and telegram messaging apps.

He said Ukraine wanted to set up a special tribunal through the United Nations to try Russian President Vladimir Putin personally on various charges, including rape and war crimes.
