Travis Kelce’s year just got even more epic with SNL hosting duties

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was already having a spectacularly successful year. Now he is going to add to his wins by hosting Saturday Night Live.

After winning Super Bowl 57, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes went to Disneyland, as is tradition for the MVP of the biggest game of the year.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce didn’t go to the Happiest Place on Earth (though he did seem to have a fun time celebrating during KC’s victory parade), but he’s got something even more unique on his docket: He’s hosting SNL.

Kelce was announced as the host for the Saturday Night Live episode coming up on Mar. 4 with Kelsea Ballerini as the musical guest.

You just know having Kelce host with a musical guest named Kelsea was on purpose.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce to host SNL as magical year continues

Kelce isn’t the first NFL player to host the iconic comedy show. J.J. Watt hosted most recently in 2020 while Eli and Peyton Manning have both stepped into the hosting role. So has Tom Brady.

Fran Tarkenton was a member of the Minnesota Vikings when he became the first pro athlete to host in 1977.

It would seem Kelce gets to claim the title of the first NFL tight end to host SNL when he steps on that stage.

Kelce further cemented his place as arguably the greatest tight end in NFL history with another memorable regular season and playoff run. He logged his record seventh 1,000-yard receiving season with 1,338 yards and career-best 12 touchdowns. He crossed the 10,000-yard receiving mark, becoming just the fifth tight end to ever do so.

In the postseason, he broke Rob Gronkowski’s playoff TD record with his 16th score in the first quarter of Super Bowl 57. He also broke his own record for catches by a tight end in a playoff game with 14 against the Jaguars.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get better than beating your older brother in the Super Bowl, Kelce went and found a way.

Basically, when you look up the definition of “winning at life” right now, you get “See: Travis Kelce.”
