The Iranian general survived the attack

A general from Iran’s influential Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has survived an attack. This information was given in the online report of Al-Jazeera television.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in southeastern Iran. A bodyguard of IRGC Brigadier General Hussein Almasi was killed in the attack.

Hussein Almasi is the commander of the IRGC in Sistan-Baluchistan province. The province borders Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Gunmen opened fire on a car carrying Hussein Almasi. Although he was unharmed, his bodyguard was killed. Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported.

The bodyguard of Hussein Almasi was identified as Mahmud Absalan. His father’s name was General Pervez Absalan. He is a commander of the IRGC in the region.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police checkpoint in southeastern Iran, the IRNA reported. Later, security forces opened fire on the terrorists.

Iranian security forces have arrested those involved in the attack.

Two days ago, Iran announced the arrest of three people in Sistan-Baluchestan on charges of involvement with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad. The bomber struck shortly after noon in the same area, targeting the IRGC general.

In 2009, there was a bloody suicide attack in Sistan-Baluchistan province. The attack killed 27 members of the IRGC.
