The first Omicron XE variant was identified in New Zealand

New Zealand has been diagnosed with the country’s first Omicron XE variant. The country’s health ministry said in a statement on Saturday (April 23rd).

A statement from the health ministry said the virus had been detected in a person traveling to New Zealand from abroad.

It is also reported to be the first case of the Omicron XE variant in New Zealand.

According to the ministry, the victim is currently in quarantine at his home. He arrived in New Zealand on April 19 and was tested for coronavirus on April 20. After full-genome sequencing, the ministry confirmed the XE variant of the virus.

Meanwhile, 7,930 coronavirus patients were diagnosed in the country on Saturday, 494 patients were hospitalized and 19 died.

Eight lakh 65 thousand 694 patients have been identified in New Zealand since the onset of the epidemic.

The country’s health ministry has warned citizens to adhere to health regulations to protect themselves from the virus.
