Katie Holmes Has Lost a Lot of Money in Recent Years: Find Out Her Net Worth

Raking it in! Katie Holmes has made headlines for her acting credits and high profile relationships over the years. Throughout her successful career, the Coda actress has earned an impressive net worth.

Katie has earned an impressive amount of money since making her acting debut. She has a net worth of $25 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. However, as of May 2022, the site listed Katie’s net worth at $25 million, so her fortune has taken a major hit as she’s only acted in two projects since 2020’s The Secret: Dare to Dream.

Katie, 43, scored her first professional acting role in the 1997 film The Ice Storm.

Shortly after, she booked the role of Joey Potter on The WB’s teen drama Dawson’s Creek. The popular series ran from 1998 until 2003 and skyrocketed Katie and the other cast members to fame.

Katie booked her first lead role in a movie when she starred in Teaching Mrs. Tingle in 1999. While continuing to star on Dawson’s Creek, she solidified her status as a movie star by appearing in the films Wonder Boys (2000), The Gift (2000), Abandon (2002), Phone Booth (2003), The Singing Detective ( 2003) and Pieces of April (2003).

After the teen drama concluded, the Ohio native shifted her focus to mostly working on movies. Some of her acting credits include First Daughter (2004), Batman Begins (2005), Mad Money (2008), Jack and Jill (2011), Days and Nights (2013), Logan Lucky (2017) and The Secret: Dare to Dream (2020).

In 2011, Katie starred on the Reelz Channel miniseries, The Kennedys, as Jacqueline Kennedy. She later reprised the role in the 2017 miniseries, The Kennedys: After Camelot.

In addition to acting, Katie has served as an executive producer on the film The Romantics (2012). She made her directorial debut with the 2016 film All We Had. Katie starred in and directed the 2022 film Alone Together, which she also wrote.

Katie only has two acting credits since 2020: Alone Together and 2023’s Rare Objects, another directorial effort.

How Does Katie Holmes Make Money?

Outside of acting, Katie launched a fashion line with her longtime friend and stylist Jeanne Yang in 2009 called Holmes & Yang.

“I just want something I can wear all the time and nobody’s going to say, ‘Oh, I saw that yesterday.’ We try to make beautiful things, and we’re not so trend-driven,” Katie told Women’s Wear Daily ahead of the brand’s first New York Fashion Week show in September 2012.

Of their first runway collection, the Miss Meadows star said, “It’s basically pieces that have evolved from basics, but not too far. They’re just nice, well-made luxury items that highlight the woman wearing them.”

Katie decided to shutter the brand in 2014, as it took up too much of her time. “I loved every minute of my time working on Holmes & Yang. I remain passionate about the design aesthetic we created, and am so happy with what Jeanne and I accomplished,” she told Elle U.K., adding, “However I am now concentrating on acting and motherhood, which did not leave the label the time and attention it deserved.”

The First Daughter actress has participated in fashion endorsements for brands including Ann Taylor and H. Stern. She has also had beauty partnerships with Bobbi Brown and Alterna haircare.

Katie launched the production company Lafayette Pictures in partnership with Yale Productions in 2021, alongside producers Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman and Jesse Korman.

“I’ve been in this business a long time, and I always love the people that I work with, and then a movie ends and it’s like you don’t get to see them for 10 years,” Katie told Variety about her colleagues. “This situation means we can keep the family together.”

How Much Does Katie Holmes Make in Child Support?

When Katie and ex-husband Tom Cruise divorced in 2012, he agreed to pay $400,000 per year in child support towards their daughter, Suri Cruise, who was born in April 2006. The deal will expire in April 2024 when she turns 18.

“For years, Katie’s enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, thanks to Tom’s consistent support,” a source exclusively told In Touch in February 2024. “But as their child nears adulthood, both mother and daughter are facing an uncertain future. It’s a terrifying prospect — going from an amazing standard of living to a question mark overnight!”

“Dawson’s Creek royalties don’t hold a candle to what Mission: Impossible generates!” the insider continued. “She’s actively looking for roles and is eager to throw herself back into the industry full-time. And don’t forget the non-disclosure agreement she signed — it’s set to expire, too. If things get tough, Katie could cash in by penning a tell-all book!”
