The Detroit Lions have a chance to make the postseason in Week 18, but they need some help from the Los Angeles Rams.

The Lions are in prime position for a playoff spot after going on a surprising run in the second half of the season. Dan Campbell and the Hard Knocks bunch was thought to be in the running for a top-5 selection (their own), but instead are just one game away from a playoff appearance, should matters fall their way.

Campbell’s group has won six of seven games after a 1-6 start.

Did the Lions make the playoffs?

Detroit can only make the postseason if the following two things happen:

Lions must defeat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.Seattle Seahawks must lose to the Los Angeles Rams

Being forced to count on other teams — especially those with a losing record — to pull off an upset is a stressful place to be. However, competing for a playoff spot is so unexpected for Lions fans, they’re just enjoying the ride.

Did the Seahawks lose to the Rams?

Seattle and Los Angeles were locked in a tight contest heading into the fourth quarter. While the Rams are 2-8 in their last 10 games, they’ve looked better of late thanks to the emergence of Baker Mayfield in Sean McVay’s offense. As rumors swirl about McVay’s future and whether he’ll head to the broadcast booth, LA could end the season on a high note.

The Seahawks haven’t played good football of late. Seattle has lost five of six games, and ironically will need the Lions to defeat Green Bay should they beat the Rams.

Will the Lions beat the Packers?

The Packers are rightly favored to defeat Detroit, given their quarterback is Aaron Rodgers and the game is to be played at Lambeau Field in primetime. Given how the Packers have been playing lately, Detroit has a tough task ahead.
