BNP’s lies to cover their own crimes

Speakers at a conference commented that the BNP is constantly pursuing the politics of lies to forget the memory of Bangladesh’s freedom struggle, to cover up its own crimes and to seize state power by any means.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  . . . . . . . . . . . .The lies of the BNP have spread not only within the borders of the country but also outside the country and foreign embassies have not stopped even lying to the US senators. Not only lies about the freedom struggle of Bangladesh, but also the rise of a party called BNP, Ziaur Rahman’s becoming the President, and even the subsequent amendment to the constitution of the BNP, many lies are hidden in the discussion. The speakers made these remarks at a webinar titled ‘Satkahan of Politics: BNP’s Politics Lies Part-1’ organized by Bangladesh Awami League on Friday night. Awami League’s Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam conducted this webinar which was broadcast live from Awami League’s Verified Facebook. Ekushey Medal winning journalist and writer Ajay Dasgupta and Fisheries and Livestock Minister and Awami League Central Law Secretary Sham Rezaul Karim were present as speakers. Moderator Aminul Islam said, “After the assassination of Bangabandhu and his family in 1975, the party was born on the prescription of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and its originator was the dictator Ziaur Rahman. That BNPE has brought the politics of lies to such a point that sometimes it seems to me that Goebbels, the father of the politics of lies, might be ashamed today in the face of this lie of the BNP. ‘ Ekushey Medal-winning journalist and writer Ajay Dasgupta highlighted the context of the March 26 declaration of independence and said that the armored vehicles of the Pakistani forces were leaving. Shooting all around. At that time Bangabandhu was slowly declaring independence. He said, “He sent the news of the declaration of independence to the Awami League leader and all the members of the administration and law and order forces. The Pakistani forces reached the doorstep of his house that night while the tanks were being shelled.” That night the news reached Chittagong, that night the news went all over the world. That night, the US State Department and Defense Department said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had declared independence. The next day the news was published in the newspapers of different countries including India and United Kingdom. The people went down in resistance to the declaration of independence. ‘ Ajay Dasgupta said that with the declaration of independence the party could lie later. They do that lie to deny freedom. They make that lie, the people of Bangladesh jumped into the war of liberation at the call of Bangabandhu, jumped into the freedom struggle to forget that memory. He said that the Pakistani evil forces, for 51 years but they want to cover up the mistake they have made, the crime they have committed, not only with the people of Bangladesh but also with the people of the whole world. But the politics of that lie is still going on. The German embassy has recently accused the BNP of lying about the briefing of the meeting with the German ambassador. Earlier, there were allegations of lying about a telephone conversation with India’s BJP chief Amit Shah. The presenter raises the issue of these lies not only in Bangladesh but also outside the country. Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sham Rezaul Karim has mentioned the BNP’s lies about hiring lobbyists abroad, forging the signatures of six congressmen, the New York Times article and the Israeli intelligence agency’s relationship with the BNP leader. He said the BNP wanted to go to power as they had gone. This is as if in an unconstitutional way. The process of going to power through voting, how to get out of this is the main motto of BNP. The process by which Ziaur Rahman seized state power was also illegal. That is why in the Fifth Amendment case, the Supreme Court has said that Ziaur Rahman and his associates are traitors, smugglers and illegal occupiers of power. And declared all their actions illegal from the day they came to power until April 9, 1989. Rezaul Karim said, BNP is totally relying on lies. The country’s highest court has ruled that only one person can declare independence. He was Bangabandhu and he had the legal authority to declare independence. Because he is a people’s representative. Even after that, they (BNP leaders) are talking like them everywhere. He said, ‘What is the politics of BNP? Does the BNP have any basic politics? I will not say. The BNP relied on some Muslim Leaguers, some anti-independence people. Jasad, some people expelled from Awami League joined there. Some pro-Chinese people called the struggle for independence a battle of two dogs. Such different classes of people came together and formed a platform. It’s not about politics, it’s about sharing power. ‘ The legal secretary of Awami League said, BNP talks about independence and goes against the freedom fighters again. BNP’s politics is false. Aminul Islam said that they are always resorting to lies to stay in power and for whatever reason. Ajay Dasgupta said that if there was corruption in the seven articles of the BNP constitution, they would not be able to stay in the party and would not be able to hold elections. They have omitted that section. Can a corrupt person be made the acting head of the party, has the Election Commission accepted it? But that answer has to be given to the Election Commission. Ziaur Rahman also held a high position in the army when he was president. The BNP has also lied about the fact that it is not possible to get elected from a lucrative position. In response to the question of the presenter whether the BNP has amended their constitution because they have accepted Khaleda Zia’s sentence, Sham Rezaul Karim said that section of the constitution of the BNP has not been omitted through any council. They cut it in their own office and gave it to the Election Commission. For this reason, many say that the BNP does not want to come to the polls because Khaleda Zia, who was convicted of corruption, will not be able to get elected. Tareq Rahman, convicted of corruption, will not be able to get elected. He said, “Even if the BNP is elected with all of them, they will have to find people to hire them to be the prime minister.” Last time he was looking for a hired man. Some people including Kamal Hossain. They could not do very well in renting. But the BNP is a political platform without leadership, without direction, moving towards darkness. I do not call it a party because to be a political party, it has to have some issues. But there is no specific political agenda of BNP in that place. ‘ Rezaul Karim further said, ‘I think if the BNP goes to the High Court to amend the constitution, the High Court will want to know whether there is any such opportunity. ‘ During the discussion, the speakers said that the country is moving forward with various infrastructures and human development including roads, bridges and tunnels. Unable to bear it, they are still lying. The BNP is lying one after another on various issues including election and development. They are lying not only in the country but also abroad. BNP is a dependent party. They think that someone will come and put them in power.
