Muggsy Bogues keeps it real by praising his fellow Charlottean short king Bryce Young.
It didn’t matter that Muggsy Bogues was 5-foot-3 when he played guard for the Charlotte Hornets, so it shouldn’t matter that Bryce Young is under 6-feet when he plays quarterback for the Carolina Panthers.
Outside not knowing how to baseball slide, height was the only detractor in Young’s quest of going No. 1 overall to the Panthers. Despite Frank Reich’s 6-foot-3-loving ways, Scott Fitterer convinced him that Young was the dude for them, man. Young projects as the next Joe Burrow, so passing on him would have been beyond stupid. Thankfully, the Panthers made the logical move on Thursday.
Showing support for his fellow Charlottean short king, here is the Hornets legend telling Panthers fans what’s up in quote tweeting Robert Griffin’s praise of his Heisman Trophy fraternity brother.
Even if C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson become superstars over in the AFC South, this was 100 percent the right move for the Panthers to make in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Look. If anybody out there is falling to pieces about Young being undersized, just stop… You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. In fact, his sliding issue is probably a much bigger deal than his perceived lack of size. Young never played small at Alabama. He may have had great talent around him, but he did have to largely carry a mediocre passing attack during his junior season.
What is cool is seeing the city of Charlotte’s sporting legends coming together in support of each other. Young may not remember seeing Bogues dribble the basketball up and down the court, but he was a special player in his own right. To carve out such a decorated career out of Wake Forest primarily with the Hornets was the stuff of legend. Few former players are as beloved as Bogues.
In truth, the only thing that matters for Young, Reich, Fitterer and the rest of the Panthers is to just win on Sundays. Carolina plays in a very winnable division, but the Panthers are the only team in the NFC South that employs a new coaching staff. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers expected to pull back in the wake of Tom Brady’s retirement, the division seems to be completely up for grabs.
If Young plays up to his standard, he can beat out Bijan Robinson for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
