A young man named Shafiqul Islam (18) was killed in a head-on collision with an unidentified vehicle at Jatrabari Rayerbagh area of the capital. The accident took place around 5:30 pm on Saturday.
Jatrabari police sub-inspector (SI) Sabbir Hossain confirmed the matter.
He said Shafiqul died on the spot when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road in front of Rayerbagh Jorkhamba Rana CNG pump in the afternoon. Attempts are being made to identify the vehicle. The body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
Shafiqul’s father Kabir Hawlader said their home was in Balia village of Baufal upazila in Patuakhali. At present he lived in Matuail Muslimnagar area of Jatrabari. Shafiqul used to work in a lathe machine in Rayerbagh Jorkhamba area.
