UN Secretary General calls the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked the UN Secretary-General for inviting her to join the ‘Champions Group of Global Crisis Response’ platform on food, energy and finance. The Prime Minister gladly accepted the invitation.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep satisfaction to the Presidents of Indonesia and Senegal, as well as the Prime Ministers of Barbados and Denmark for joining the same platform.

Stating that she is keen to work closely with other leaders, the Prime Minister expressed her confidence in meeting the group’s goals.

Sheikh Hasina said that she is ready to be involved in various issues including high level dialogue to fulfill the objectives of the group.

The Prime Minister briefed the UN Secretary General on the ongoing war in Ukraine, food, energy, economy and other sectors after the Corona epidemic.

Sheikh Hasina reiterated her commitment to respond to the call of the United Nations to contribute to global peace, stability and development.

The Prime Minister mentioned Bangladesh’s participation in UN peacekeeping, implementation of sustainable development, climate issues and gender equality.

The UN Secretary General requested Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to nominate a ‘Sherpa’ (representative) to represent Bangladesh in the ‘Champions Group of Global Crisis Response’ on food, energy and finance.
